2010 Federal Secretariat: Mission and Mandate

Mission

To lead and manage a comprehensive and cohesive whole-of-government approach to Canada’s participation in hosting the 2010 Winter Games, to derive maximum benefit for all Canadians, and to leave a net positive legacy for the nation.

Mandate

The 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Federal Secretariat (2010 Federal Secretariat) will coordinate the Government of Canada’s responsibility to provide essential federal services, capital, and legacy funding in support of the 2010 Winter Games.

It will ensure timely advice for decision-makers, and provide leadership, expertise, and co-ordination for over 30 federal departments and agencies on issues related to the 2010 Winter Games.

The 2010 Federal Secretariat will work to protect federal investments and interests, and to strengthen the Government of Canada’s position as a key partner in the planning and delivery of the 2010 Winter Games.
