In November 2002, eight months prior to winning the bid for Vancouver 2010, the Government of Canada signed a Multi-Party Agreement with a number of key Games partners. This agreement, which was the first of its kind to be signed prior to an Olympic host city being announced, truly recognizes the partners' commitment to the Games and outlines each signatory’s roles and responsibilities.

The Government of Canada’s support to the 2010 Winter Games is based on the Federal Policy for Hosting International Sport Events.
