2010 Legacies Now

2010 Legacies Now is an organization created by the Province of British Columbia to work with community-based organizations to develop initiatives that support athletes from playground to podium, and to ensure every region in BC benefits from the arts, volunteer, literacy, sports and recreation legacies that will result from the 2010 Winter Games.

2010 Legacies Now became a registered society in 2002, with three areas of emphasis:

• sport development in British Columbia;
• community capacity building; and
• province-wide community outreach to encourage communities to build their own 2010 legacy opportunities. 

By 2003, 2010 Legacies had contributed $5M in new funding for sport development.

Delivered in partnership with a variety of sport and non-sport associations, not-for-profit organizations, the private sector and all levels of government, programming is largely community-focused.
