The City of Richmond is an official Venue City for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Richmond will be home to the long track speed skating competition during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Speed skating competitions will be held at the new Richmond Oval, which is opening in 2008. Twelve medal events, awarding 36 medals, will be held at the Oval over a 14-day period from February 13 to 27, 2010.
In addition to hosting speed skating, Richmond is planning a number of other programs to mark the 2010 Games and to ensure the community derives maximum benefit from this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
