Sustainability is defined in many different ways, but every new definition includes the same idea - meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future.
Since 1994, every Olympic Games has tried to “raise the bar” in one or more areas of sustainability. The 2010 Winter Games are unique in that, for the first time, the organizing committee (VANOC) has integrated sustainability into all aspects of Games preparation and execution.
The 2010 Winter Games offer the Government of Canada an opportunity to demonstrate to the world its leadership in sustainability. Working alongside VANOC and other Games partners, we are helping to make the 2010 Winter Games as environmentally excellent as possible.
