Celebration Sites

In an effort to extend first-hand Games-times experiences to as many people as possible, the Government of Canada has announced $20 million towards the establishment of Celebration Sites for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The Celebration Sites have large outdoor screens, stages, and open plazas that will enable Canadians to express and share their diverse cultural experiences with each other and the world. These spaces, located in Vancouver and Whistler, will offer activities to the public free of charge and will feature events such as live concerts, performances, festivities, and broadcasts of Games-time events on giant screens.

The Celebration Sites will not only offer an environment where communities and visitors can come together and share the Olympic experience; they will also contribute to the post-Games legacy by providing new permanent community-gathering spaces.
